This is a wedding I've been looking forward to for a while now, and it's one that feels like it's been in the diary forever, as I booked their special day way back at the Charnwood arms wedding fayre around 2 years ago now!
I always have a soft spot for Donnington park farmhouse, It's one of my favourite venues, so whenever a wedding pops up there, there's always a fair bit of excitement, as I know all the best spots and places to get the most out of the couples photography. Team that up with the stunning weather we've been treated to recently, and you've got a recipe for the most idealic wedding photos.
Bridal prep photos aren't for everyone, so when I'd discussed it with Abbie, she mentioned that whilst she wasn't completely on board with the idea, I convinced her there were couple of last minute pictures before the ceremony that were well worth getting. Once I'd got a handful of photos of Dan greeting their guests, looking increasingly more nervous as the ceremony creeped up, I paid Abbie a very quick visit to grab those last minute photos before she made her way to meet Dan at the top of the aisle.
As always, Donnington park farmhouse, provided the perfect rustic backdrop to their ceremony, which seemed to fly by as before I knew it, we were making our way back down the aisle for confetti shots!
I really couldn't have asked for better conditions, so once we'd done a couple of quick group shots, and some more of the more candid photos, I snagged the newlyweds away from the action for 15 mins or so, for a few quick pictures on their own.
Whenever I get the opportunity to whisk the couple away from the action, I always grab the opportunity with both hands. Whilst I do run through a couple of impromptu poses, it's never anything too staged or awkward. I did give them both a few quick pointers, just to get a few smiles and some genuine laughter, but for me, it's about the happy couple having a laugh and me just taking a few bonus photos, which they both absolutely smashed!
Once we'd wrapped that up, it was time for everyone to take their seats ready for their wedding breakfast, so at that point, I made my exit for an hour or so, ready to pop back up as soon as the speeches were due to take place.
Speeches are always a pleasure, and as always I managed to snap a good few photos of some really heartfelt moments, mixed in with a fair few laughs too!
It always amazes me how quickly wedding days fly by, so naturally no sooner had we finished with speeches, we were creeping ever closer towards the cake cutting and of course the first dance as the evening guests began to arrive.
Cake suitabley cut, we then made our way into the barn ready for Abbie and Dans first dance as husband and wife. It was genuinely a lovely moment to capture and was only made more perfect by the addition of the father and daughter dance that Abbie had planned for ahead of time.
As my time with them both drew to a close, I can hand on heart say that I had a fantastic time with Abbie, Dan and their 2 chdildren Ruby and Toby. They're such a lovely family, and I've no doubt whatsoever I'll stay in touch with them all hopefully for many years to come!
