Last weekend, at the charming St. Leonard's Church in Frankley, a wedding went down that's gonna be the stuff of legends. Jodie and Dan, the dynamic duo of the day, dove into an adventure filled with giggles, rays of sunshine, and just a smidge of "fashionable" lateness that turned everything into a bit of a rollercoaster.
Let's start with the lead-up, where things were anything but ordinary. Jodie and her crew of bridesmaids rocked out their pre-wedding prep in an Airbnb that was, get this, above a busy coffee shop. The whole place smelled like roasted beans and buzzed with the energy of the coffee fiends downstairs. In the midst of this quirky backdrop, the bridal squad glammed up, giving the day a unique start that was more urban cool than typical wedding glamour.
Now, let's talk about Dan's big entrance. Or should I say, his "fashionably late" entrance. As guests settled into St. Leonard's Church, ready to witness some love, Dan decided to add a twist. He made his entrance with a bit of flair, taking his sweet time. But you know what they say – good things come to those who wait. As Dan leisurely strolled in, Jodie found herself in the passenger seat of her dad's car, cruising around the streets of Frankley, taking a detour while waiting for her almost-on-time groom. Talk about a memorable entrance!
Believe it or not, Dan's laid-back entrance set the tone for the whole day. Instead of stressing, he carried a chill vibe that was downright contagious. While others might've been fussing, Dan's "no worries" attitude made everyone loosen up and just go with the flow.
And speaking of going with the flow, how about that weather? After days of rain playing hard to get, the sun showed up big time for the big day. It was like Mother Nature herself RSVP'd to the wedding. The ceremony was bathed in golden sunshine, making everything feel magical. The whole vibe was like a scene out of a rom-com, where even the weather plays along.
The party shifted gears to the super scenic Rowheath Pavilion, surrounded by lush greenery. This place was tailor-made for awesome photos, capturing the authentic joy of friends and family. The staff at Rowheath had kindly treated me to some rooftop access which made group shots a breeze – an unexpected bonus that led to an epic group photo against the grounds surrounding the Pavillion. Seriously, you can't ask for any more as a photographer.
Now, let's talk about the unsung hero of the day – George, the DJ. As fate would have it, even he wasn't immune to the day's quirky twists. George found himself in a bit of a pickle with his DJ equipment, battling some technical gremlins that threatened to derail the music magic, one minute we had music, the next we didn't. But you know what's heartwarming? Instead of letting the glitch get to him, the entire crew – guests, friends, and even a tech-savvy dad – rallied to the cause.
It was like a scene out of a movie. There was George, determined to keep the tunes spinning, and a merry band of helpers surrounding him, offering advice, giving encouragement, and doing their darnedest to channel their inner tech wizards. It was a sight that showed just how awesome a crowd can be when they're all in it together.
As the sun dipped behind the horizon, it was time for two major moments: cake cutting and the first dance. The cake, an elegant 3 tier masterpiece, was like a sweet symbol of the journey Jodie and Dan had taken to get to this day. And their first dance? It was like a sneak peek into a lifetime of shared dreams and silly dance moves.
As my time with them both drew to a close, it was time for me to sign off and leave the awesome party behind. What a day – laughter, love, and memories for days. It was a reminder that love stories are never written in stone; they're a patchwork of unexpected twists and unforgettable moments.
Here's to Jodie and Dan, the couple who turned their wedding day into an adventure. May their journey ahead be just as epic as the day that kicked off their forever. And may their story remind us all that life's little surprises are what make the ride so awesome.
Peace, Love and Photos.
