Continuing on from last week, I'm still playing catch up on some fantastic weddings that I've had the honour of attending.
This week I want to talk about the lovely Andy and Sam who tied the knot at a venue that's quickly turning out to be one of my regular favourites, Sketchly Grange in Burbage, Hinckley.
Having had a good old catch-up with Sam well before the day, the vibe was for relaxed and chilled-out photography, with the brief being given to me that if anyone was caught being "grumpy" or not smiling, I was to tell them promptly to pull a funny face. Fortunately, it didn't have to come to that, as Sam, Andy and their guests were genuinely happy and fun-loving group of people right from the get-go.
Sketchley Grange is truly a stunning venue, and every time I've been there, I've not been able to help but admire the picturesque grounds and the enchanting outdoor ceremony area. I've always held out hope that a daring couple would seize the opportunity to have their ceremony outdoors, and I was overjoyed when, despite a few light drizzles just moments before Sam's arrival, they remained committed to their plan and chose to exchange vows amidst the beauty of the grounds.
Even though we had a few dark clouds, we managed all the key moments of the ceremony without a single drop of rain. Nevertheless, as soon as the ceremony was over, and as the staff were handing out reception drinks, the heavens opened, and a torrential downpour ensued meaning everyone was ushered inside for shelter.
I usually like to get the confetti shot, and requested group shots done straight after the ceremony so they're done and out of the way, but as the weather had other ideas, we had to change the plans slightly postponing the confetti shot (with the hopes that the weather would dry up soon) and head inside where I set up a quick impromptu studio indoors for the various group photos the couple had requested. I always like to think ahead and plan for the unexpected, so no matter what wedding I attend, I always have the kit in my car ready to go should we need to change plans for whatever reason at a moment's notice.
Group shots completed. The rain was showing no signs of letting up, so as the couple and their guests sat down for food, I eagerly checked the weather with the hopes that once they'd eaten we'd have a decent break in the clouds for us to get a quick confetti shot and a couple of more intimate photos of the couple on their own.
And as luck would have it, that's exactly what I got! The sun came out, and it was like you'd never known there was a heavy downpour just moments before. It was the perfect opportunity to pop out with them both for a quick wander around the grounds and of course a few obligatory photos of them on their own without any prying eyes.
What an amazing couple Andy and Sam are! It was a real pleasure to capture their day. Their friends and family are a testament to them both and were beyond welcoming throughout my whole time with them.
Catch you next week for the next one!
Peace, Love and Photos.
