Before we crack on, I think I need to apologize, as for some reason, last week's blog didn't go out on social media. Fear not though, I'm going to make it right this week, and I would implore you all to go and have a read last week's blog as it featured me being a hopeless romantic! Who doesn't want to read that? Go check that one out after you've read this one!
But onto this week's blog, featuring the lovely Sasina and Melvin whose wedding we were at last week!
I've spoken about Sas and Melv before, as they run a cracking little shop in Daventry called fit right alterations. They do some fantastic work and I can't speak highly enough of both Sas and Melv!
Not only are they both hugely talented tailors, but they're also two of the nicest people you could ever wish to meet, and their wedding was definitely one of my highlights of the year so far.
So as last Sunday was Rachel's birthday, I invited Emma, my sister along as a second photographer, She's got an A Level in photography, so I knew she was well up to the job. It's always a huge benefit to have a second with me, as it really does make all the difference when it comes to capturing more angles. She did a fantastic job, and her photos have come out fantastically. Incidentally, it's also her birthday today. Happy Birthday, Emma!
As Sas and Melv had booked a full day, we met at 1 pm to capture some bride and groom prep before heading over to Rugby registry office to capture their ceremony where their dog Maisy was the ring bearer. She was incredibly well behaved, and managed to look after the rings better than some groomsmen I've seen!
After the ceremony, we headed out into the grounds to get the all-important group shots, which of course included Maisy too! The addition of some nice weather, really made the pictures pop, and as is always the case all their guests were in high spirits too, so it wasn't at all difficult to get the smiles I needed.
As their wedding was pretty late on in the day, Sas and Melv had rolled their wedding breakfast and evening reception into one, which honestly, was a fantastic idea, as it meant ALL the guests got to see speeches. The day flowed so well, more couples should definitely consider doing the same!
Earlier in the week, I'd met with Sas and Melv to have a wander around the venue to discuss shots, and to scope out some spots that they'd chosen for some photos. Football clubs generally aren't known for picturesque grounds outside the pitch, so you can imagine my surprise, when just a short walk away, there was a fantastic treelined pathway that lead to some idyllic fields, perfect for some photos.
Twice a day, us photographers get treated to what's known as golden hour. It's just as the sun rises, and just as the sun sets. It's the perfect time for photos, as everything is bathed in just the most flattering light, which makes for stunning photos. I'd aimed to snag Sas and Melv on their own for 20 mins at this exact time, and their pictures definitely didn't disappoint!
After that, it was onto speeches, their first dance, and the cake cutting, just before, they'd scheduled something a little bit special... Fireworks!
I really wanted to get them both positioned in front of the camera, with the fireworks going off in the background, and I managed just that. It turned out to be honestly one of my favorite wedding pictures!!
I always like to finish off any blog by saying how much of a nice time I've had working with a couple, and believe me, Sas and Melv are no different. They were both absolutely outstanding throughout the whole day and a real pleasure to be around.
Any wedding is primarily about the couple (and so it should be!) but Sas and Melv were so kind and accommodating throughout the whole day to their guests and us! I always focus on being at a wedding to work, and always encourage couples not to worry about looking after us, and to concentrate on enjoying their day, but it was like photographing old friends. They're nothing short of a lovely couple, who I'm honoured to count as friends.
And that's another blog done for this week! Next Saturday we've got the wedding of Gavin and Donna, another couple whose wedding we can't wait to capture.
Peace, Love, and Photos.
